01 The story, in three paragraphs

Why everyone keeps coming back.

Located just steps from Richmond Station, Cafe Macarong offers a charming and inviting escape for anyone seeking a perfect blend of comforting drinks and exquisite sweet treats. This cozy cafe specializes in a thoughtfully curated menu that features a vibrant selection of fruit teas—strawberry, peach, mango, green apple, and passion fruit—each served with your choice of delightful toppings like mango boba, lychee boba, and even blueberry boba. These refreshing beverages bring a playful textural contrast, making every sip a little celebration.

Beyond the fruit teas, Cafe Macarong's non-coffee offerings are equally enticing. The rich, velvety hot chocolate and soothing matcha latte provide warmth on a chilly day, while the milk tea latte and chai latte offer comforting, aromatic layers of flavor. For younger guests or the young at heart, the babychino adds a sweet, frothy touch of coziness.

But what truly elevates Cafe Macarong is undoubtedly their macarons—praised by visitors as some of the best in Richmond and beyond. Flavors like salted caramel and crème brûlée boast a perfectly crisp shell that gives way to an irresistibly smooth and flavorful filling, demonstrating the cafe’s dedication to quality and craftsmanship. The basque cheesecake is another standout, delivering a creamy, luscious experience that lingers long after the last bite.

Many customers describe Cafe Macarong as a serene haven, echoing the comforting charm of a Seoul-style café with its warm, peaceful ambiance—ideal for curling up with a good book or enjoying a quiet conversation. The friendly, patient staff enhance this welcoming atmosphere, making every visit feel personal and heartfelt, even if service sometimes strolls at a leisurely pace. It’s clear that quality and care take center stage here.

Food lovers will also appreciate that the menu extends beyond sweet treats. The savory options, inspired by Korean comfort food, feature dishes like beef dupbap (a flavorful rice bowl), salmon poke, and crispy fried chicken, all prepared with an attentive hand and a modern twist. Soups such as mushroom and pumpkin bring unexpected warmth and depth of flavor, inviting guests to savor something both nourishing and satisfying.

Whether you’re visiting after a day strolling the famed nearby Kew Gardens or simply looking for a cozy spot to recharge, Cafe Macarong offers a uniquely delightful experience. It’s a place where handcrafted sweets meet comforting meals, all wrapped in a friendly and soothing atmosphere that encourages you to linger and indulge your senses.

For a taste of comforting elegance and thoughtful hospitality, Cafe Macarong is a must-visit gem on Station Parade in Richmond.

Fabulous macarons; honestly some of the best I’ve ever had! I highly recommend the salted caramel and the crème brûlée flavors. The basque cheesecake was also a highlight. As others have noted, the service can be a little slow, but the quality of the treats makes it well worth the wait.

Nestled near the serene Kew Gardens, Café Macarong is a cozy gem that delivers a delightful mix of comfort food with a modern twist. The menu boasts an array of crowd-pleasers, including dupbap (a Korean rice bowl topped with flavorful ingredients), poke rice, and crispy fried chicken, all crafted with care and bursting with flavor. During our visit, we ordered the beef dupbap, salmon poke, and tuna poke, and each dish was a standout. The beef dupbap was hearty and satisfying, with tender beef layered over perfectly cooked rice, elevated by the café’s signature wasabi soybean sauce that added a subtle, savory kick. The salmon and tuna poke bowls were equally impressive, with fresh, vibrant ingredients harmonized by a spicy mayonnaise dressing that brought just the right amount of heat and creaminess. Every bite felt balanced and thoughtfully prepared, showcasing the kitchen’s knack for blending bold flavors with comfort. To top it all off, we sipped on their latte, which was surprisingly excellent—smooth, well-balanced, and the perfect complement to the meal. The inviting ambiance and friendly service only added to the experience, making Café Macarong a must-visit for anyone craving comforting yet elevated dishes near Kew Gardens. I’ll definitely be back to explore more of their menu!

Discovered this delightful cafe while on a day trip to Kew Gardens via the tube (while on holiday in London). I have a weakness for macarons and these are truely the best macarons I have ever tasted and they make them in-house. Don't take my word for it, try them yourself, you won't be disappointed.

My aunt and I had the mushroom soup and pumpkin soup and it was absolutely delicious. I didn't realise pumpkin could be so tasty. My aunt was just as enthusiastic about the mushroom soup. We also had homemade lemon and ginger tea. Again fantastic and the staff lovely. Definitely return:)

This cafe reminded me a lot of the cute cafes in Myeongdong when I went to Seoul. A warm cafe, which makes you want to bring a fiction novel and read with a hot drink. This was my first time bringing my mum to a cosy cafe and she really liked it. We went back here twice in the same day in Kew. Friendly and patient staff. Highly recommend the mushroom soup. This cafe is right next to the station.

Very sweet cafe/brunch and lunch spot! The staff are super friendly and welcoming, there are lots of seating options and even an outdoor garden! The eggs royale was amazing, a bit on the pricy side but was totally worth it and was super tasty! Great selection of cakes too - thank you
